Is the semi-colon correctly placed?

The semi-colon is incorrectly placed. A semi-colon joins 2 dependant clauses together; a dependant clause is like a sentence, it has a subject, verb, and complete thought. This means if you took out the semi-colon, you would have 2 complete sentences, and 'from guiding him to eventually taking his life' is not a complete sentence. In conclusion, there shouldn't be a semi-colon in that sentence; instead of the semi-colonl, put in a comma. Hope this helps!!! (:
