I'm a little curious, how chihuahua was made?

I have a 2 months old chihuahua dog and many people say chihuahua was made from a dog and rat in mexico. I have no idea and I'm just curious because I know Chi is the most smallest dog.... and how can it be so small??? What does it made from?
