Question about crochet hook size?

I have a pattern from Lion Brand that requires a hook size N-13. I searched at Wal-Mart and only came across M-13. Can someone tell me what the difference (from my research, they both appear to be 9mm) is, if any? It seems like the M is for US for what about N? Any help would be appreciated.
