Do you think there was ancient civilizations unknown to us...?

...that may have been destroyed, or abandoned because of floods, nuclear wars, meteor strikes etc. The English writer Graham Handconk think the pyrimids of Egypt, the Aztecs, and Ankgor Watt were part of a world wide sea faring culture civilization that faded away. What theories do you have?
